Need recommendation on online investigation

The short short is this - my mother lives in another state and has
given a neighbor of hers power of attorney in case a medical emergency
comes up (which has occured in the past). Recently she got a notice
in the mail saying a bank account had been closed. which had a
significant amount of money in it. She is frantic about the money and
thinks the money may have been inappropriately taken by this neighbor.

I've seen numerous sites that can check the background of the
neighbor. but none that can show if he has been suddenly been
depositing unexplained deposits into his bank. Is the tracing of
missing funds attainable via internet investigation. or do I have to
hire an expensive PI?
One important note - she DOES forget important details. even weeks.
She can't find her bank statements to fax. claims them stolen. I've
asked her to go to bank when they open on Tuesday. and request last 4
months of statements on all accounts. and to immediately pay for them
to be FedEx'ed to me.

But I'd like advice as to how to start checking into deep details of
this neighbors current financial transactions.
