How much to charge for background checks?

I am currently working for an agency as an intern so I may get a
license. Our agency is new in the area. so they had me call other local
agencies to see how much they were charging for background checks.
Prices on background checks varied all over the board.
Why is there such a difference? It doesn't cost us much to run a
comprehensive background check that includes criminal.
address/employment history etc.

Does paying more equal more information. or are some agencies simply
offering the same (or similar) information and inflating charges?


The reply to this is. "Quality of Services". My firm for instance will
provide the basic of locations for $50. But can include things such as
National Employment information for $200. My surveillance rates are 45
and hour and require a retainer.
